Varicose Veins Treatment Cost

There are a number of ways to treat varicose veins, though there’s no single treatment that can fix the problem completely for life. But with a good vein specialist and timely treatment, you can expect a successful outcome that allows you to enjoy your new look for a longer period of time.

Varicose treatments may require several stages, especially for severe cases. The first stage is usually the most crucial as the specialist attempts to treat the saphenous veins – root of the problem. The first treatment is also likely to be more expensive than subsequent sessions for the same problem.

Here are some things to keep in mind when working out the cost of cosmetic varicose vein treatment:

  • A co-pay amount of between $10 and $80 is charged per visit. This is the amount you pay at the front desk before seeing the doctor.
  • You need to account for the co-insurance amount if your treatment qualifies for insurance payment under your policy and deemed medically necessary.
  • Insurances do not cover compression stockings at all.
  • The cost of ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy is $400 - $1,000, but is much cheaper (about half price) for small veins and spider veins
  • Ambulatory phlebectomy can cost about $700 - 900.
  • Endovenous laser therapy and radiofrequency ablation have similar procedures, and can cost between $1200 to $4000 depending on the severity of the problem.

Keep in mind that treatment in an accredited center is likely to be more cost effective than in a hospital where you may be charged a facility fee. However, it is wise to discuss with your vein specialist regarding your individual case, as prices differ on a case to case basis.
